THE ORCA
The orca, a majestic ocean predator, plays a vital role in the balance of marine ecosystems by regulating fish and other species. It is now seriously threatened by marine pollution, underwater noise, and the dwindling supply of its prey. With fewer than fifty individuals recorded in the Bay of Biscay, its future is highly uncertain.
The Ross'Wild fund is working alongside the One Ocean association to protect this emblematic species.
Media focus on the species
A documentary about the killer whale was released to raise public awareness of its ecological role, along with the launch of the Ananta app. This platform informs and engages citizens nationwide on actions to protect the killer whale.
Cleaning operations
Regular organization of waste collections along the Atlantic coasts to reduce marine pollution affecting the orca habitat, while raising awareness among participants of the need to preserve marine ecosystems.
Scientific research
Collaboration with European researchers to conduct in-depth studies on orca behavior and regular censuses, with the aim of improving knowledge of this species and guiding conservation strategies.
