THE DOLPHIN

The bottlenose dolphin, a familiar sight on Mediterranean shores, embodies the grace and intelligence of the marine world. Curious and sociable, it lives in small groups on the continental shelf. Threatened by pollution, maritime traffic, and dwindling fish populations, its population in the Pelagos Sanctuary is estimated at fewer than 1,000 individuals.

The Ross'Wild fund supports, with the Miraceti association, concrete actions to protect this messenger of the seas.

Children's awakening

Setting up educational workshops and conferences in schools to introduce students to the discovery of the bottlenose dolphin and raise their awareness of the preservation of marine ecosystems.

Studies at sea

Conducting scientific expeditions to collect acoustic data and perform photo-identifications, with the aim of deepening knowledge of dolphin populations and monitoring their movements.

Training of actors at sea

Organization of practical and theoretical sessions for marine area managers and maritime professionals, including training in the REPCET system for reporting cetaceans. Conducting scientific expeditions to collect acoustic data and perform photo-identifications, in order to study dolphin populations and track their movements.
