THE RAY
The mobula ray, an elegant silhouette found in Corsican waters, regulates populations of small fish and invertebrates, playing a key role in marine ecosystems. Threatened by pollution, habitat degradation, and fishing, its population in the northwestern Mediterranean is estimated at around 10,000 individuals.
The Ross'Wild fund supports, with the AILERONS association, concrete actions to protect this species and preserve marine balance.
Animation of the ELASMED network
Establishment of a participatory science network, ELASMED, to involve fishermen, boaters and citizens in the collection of data on mobula rays in the Mediterranean.
Rescue and veterinary care
Emergency interventions when a ray is injured or in distress, the association guides rescuers on site and when necessary implements dedicated resources, for example in the event of a need for veterinary care or rescue.
Scientific expeditions
Conducting missions at sea, aboard sailboats, to monitor ray populations and carry out electronic tagging. These expeditions aim to monitor their behavior and distribution and to collect essential data for their conservation.
